At our nursery, we provide a wide range of experiences for all children, creating opportunities for extended learning through every new adventure and discovery. Each experience supports their development in many ways, helping to build confidence, curiosity, communication, and independence.
We love to venture out and explore the world around us whenever we can. Whether it’s a visit to our local high street in Northwood or a bus ride to a nearby garden centre, every outing becomes an exciting learning opportunity. Exploring new environments together encourages children to observe, ask questions, discover new things, and develop a greater understanding of the community and world around them.
A Day at the Farm
One of our biggest summer highlights, and a firm favourite with the children, is our annual trip to Odds Farm Park. We travel together by coach for a fun-filled day of adventure and discovery at the farm.
The children love meeting and learning about the animals, especially feeding the goats and seeing all the different farm animals up close. We also enjoy the tractor ride around the farm, exploring the exciting soft play and outdoor park areas, and watching the live animal shows throughout the day.
One of the most special parts of the trip is gathering together in our very own picnic tent to enjoy our packed lunches as a group. It is always a wonderful opportunity for the children to share experiences, build friendships, and create lasting memories together.
Outings
We love venturing out into our local community, with our high street just a short two-minute walk away. The children enjoy visiting local shops, choosing cooking ingredients together from Waitrose, exploring the library, and even watching the trains go by at the underground station.
We also enjoy little outings to our local parks, adventures on the bus, and special days out together. One of our favourite trips is visiting Ruislip Lido, where we love going on the miniature train ride before finishing the day with lots of fun and excitement at the pirate park.
Another favourite activity is visiting the garden centre, where the children can choose vegetables and flowers to plant and grow back at nursery.
Every outing encourages curiosity, confidence, communication, and teamwork, helping the children to learn about the world around them through real-life experiences. Most importantly, each adventure is filled with excitement, laughter, and lots of fun as we learn together.
Other experiences
At our nursery, we also enjoy our wonderful yoga sessions with Giggly Minds. Through creative storytelling and imaginative adventures, the children learn new yoga movements in a fun and engaging way. Each group takes part in a 30-minute session, encouraging the children to build confidence, balance, coordination, and mindfulness whilst having lots of fun. The sessions provide a calm and positive experience where the children can express themselves, use their imaginations, and enjoy movement together.
Each term, the children also enjoy exciting football coaching sessions, where they learn new skills, teamwork, and coordination whilst having lots of fun together! During the 30-minute sessions within their classes, the children take part in a variety of mini games, tasks, and challenges. We love cheering each other on, celebrating goals together, and encouraging one another throughout each activity, creating a positive and supportive team spirit for everyone involved.
Zoo Lab!
We bring Zoo Lab to the nursery, where children can enjoy a 60-minute animal handling workshop designed to develop their understanding of the world through play and hands-on learning.
The workshop is tailored to our Jungle & Safari Animals topic, engaging children with age-appropriate facts, animal stories, interactive activities, and fun challenges. One of their fantastic animal rangers leads the entire experience, ensuring everyone is involved and having fun throughout.
Children will have the opportunity to meet a variety of amazing animals, including snakes, tarantulas, frogs, lizards, millipedes, giant African land snails, and many more!
